A culturally sensitive, participant-driven, Spanish-language group for Latina women with HIV promoted engagement in HIV services. Many participants had never previously engaged in support services. The increased participation resulted in multiple positive outcomes, including HIV viral load suppression, reduced stigma and isolation, engagement in mental health services, and increased community advocacy.

The Northeast/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center HIV Health Information Exchange (HIE) Initiative aims to empower HIV care networks to utilize the potential of emerging data exchange models toward improving HIV outcomes and ending the epidemic. New HIV infections continue to rise among members of the Latinx community, especially youth. To reverse this increasing trend, it is important to recognize the social, economic, linguistic, and cultural barriers that hinder the prevention and treatment efforts for HIV when developing an outreach strategy.
