On June 11, the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) issued an "A" recommendation that clinicians should offer preexposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to individuals who are at high risk of HIV acquisition.

The Affordable Care Act requires private health plans to provide coverage of USPSTF A and B recommendations without cost sharing. The category "A" means: "The USPSTF recommends the service. There is high certainty that the net benefit is substantial."
